Montcuq is a commune of 1273 inhabitants, in the Lot department in south-western France.

Lying 25 kilometres (16 mi) outside of Cahors, its residents are known as Montcuquois.

The town remains vibrant and a popular tourist destination. It still has a rich agricultural industry, and is known for its manufacture of meringues and gaufres de Saint Daumes waffles.

 

In the surroundings of the village, multiple activities are possible. The environment is perfect for hiking. The lake of Montcuq is an ideal place to cool down, relax, go for a swim or to fish. For those who are more adventurous  the following activities are recommended: karting, paintball, horse riding, tree climbing, caves visits... Furthermore, especially during summer, numerous festivals and sights are organised in the neighboring regions.
